Granby Grange No. 5 held its Fourth Annual Duck Race on May 2, and organizers are calling the event another tremendous success for both the community and the preservation of the Grange’s historic hall.
The popular fundraiser, once again co-sponsored by Lincoln Tech, attracted strong community support and enthusiasm. All 700 ducks entered in the race were sponsored by donors, helping raise important funds to support preservation and improvements at the Granby Grange Hall located at 219 North Granby Road.
Twenty prizes valued at more than $1,700 were awarded to lucky duck sponsors, adding excitement and community spirit to the annual tradition. For the second year in a row, Christina Wright’s sponsored duck came in first. Former Granby Grange Secretary Pat Tarca sponsored a duck that came in last place, and Tarca was awarded a scuba set.
Grange leaders expressed appreciation to the many volunteers, sponsors, local businesses and community members who helped make the event possible.
Funds raised through the race will help support ongoing maintenance and preservation of the historic Grange Hall, which has long served as an important gathering place for agricultural, educational, civic and community activities in Granby.
