Granby Racial Reconciliation (GRR) will begin a five-part Courageous Conversations Video Series based on the work of Bryan Stevenson, founder and executive director of the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI), a human rights organization in Montgomery, Ala. and author of the acclaimed bestseller, Just Mercy.
Stevenson has initiated major anti-poverty and anti-discrimination efforts that challenge inequality in America. He led the creation of EJI’s highly acclaimed Legacy Sites, including the Legacy Museum, the National Memorial for Peace and Justice and Freedom Monument Sculpture Park.
The GRR series will include watching videos followed by guided group discussions. The first evening will provide information about Stevenson and his four solutions for change: Transformative Proximity, Changing the Narrative, Protecting Hopefulness, and Doing Uncomfortable Things. Next evenings will delve into one of the solutions.
The series will be held in Room 2 of the Granby Senior Center at 6:30 p.m. on the following Wednesdays: April 22, May 6, May 20, June 3 and June 17.
