What would we love to be true for Granby?

In February, the committee of residents leading Granby’s Greater Together Community Fund (GTCF) at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving commenced its mandate to co-lead a participatory grant-making process in the community.

The committee began by hearing neighbors’ perspectives about their hopes, priorities and ideas for Granby’s potential. It welcomed proposals from nonprofit and community groups about how they’d meet needs and generate greater opportunity for the town. Throughout, the committee saw strong support for meeting the needs of vulnerable groups such as senior services and those facing food scarcity, as well as investing in youth services, the arts and engaging with the natural environment.

After a highly competitive selection process that fielded 33 applications totaling nearly a half million dollars in funding requests, the committee awarded almost $104,000 to 12 organizations across sectors representative of Granby’s needs, opportunities and diversity. (See list below.)

The GTCF looks forward to watching these projects unfold and welcomes town residents to reach out to any of these organizations to find ways to contribute or benefit from their efforts. We are deeply grateful for all applicants’ efforts in the selection process and for their commitment—the sheer volume of strong applications is a true testament to this town’s care for all of us.

The committee invites ideas or feedback for the next grantmaking cycle in 2026 or any of our potential engagement in town. Share ideas or expressions of interest to collaborate, including joining our committee, to granbyac@hfpgcommunityfunds.org
