Legion Tag Sale
The members of American Legion Post 182 invite you to their upcoming tag sale on Saturday, Sept. 6, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Legion Hall, 244 North Granby Road.
This tag sale specializes in treasures that deserve a second life. Think vintage tools, kitchen gear, books, décor, etc. Proceeds will support Post 182’s community and veterans’ programs.
Legion Scholarship Raffle
Post 182 proudly continues its tradition of awarding an annual scholarship to a deserving senior at Granby Memorial High School. The scholarship honors citizenship and patriotism through a student-written essay on a rotating theme and is funded by the raffle.
Ticket sales will begin Aug. 30 through Nov. 7 at $10 per ticket and will be available directly from Post members and at weekend tables outside Geissler’s and Stop & Shop in Granby.
The raffle drawing, with a grand prize of $1,000, will take place during the Armistice/Veterans Day Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 8 p.m.
Proceeds from the raffle will fund the prize, the scholarship program, and contribute to operations and maintenance of Legion Hall.
Connecticut Veterans Stand Down
On Friday, Sept. 19, Connecticut will host its annual Veterans Stand Down—a statewide initiative connecting veterans, especially those who are homeless, at-risk, and underserved, with critical services, from housing and employment assistance to medical care and legal support.
Granby’s Post 182 is supporting the Rocky Hill site by collecting donations of high-need items typically distributed at Stand Down, including new socks and underwear (men’s and women’s), travel-size toiletries, non-perishable snacks, backpacks and duffel bags, warm outerwear and rain gear.
Donations, including cash contributions, may be dropped off at Legion Hall, 244 North Granby Road, Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. To arrange other drop off times or to volunteer, contact Bob Groper at 860-906-2614 or Cliff Burrell at 860-309-6812.
Additional details are available through the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs at 860-616-3772 or standdown@ct.gov for more information. Visit Post182ALCT.org for more information and updates.
