Present: Kristina Gilton, Katharine Leenders, Monica Logan, Donna Nolan, David Peling, Rosemarie Weber, Katherine O’Neill. Also Student Representative Chase Alexander. Absent: Whitney Sanzo.

Chair’s Corner

Weber announced that the high school was awarded the Michael’s Achievement Cup this year. This award exists to honor CIAC member schools that provide exemplary athletic programs where students are empowered to take an active role in their school climate and their continued support for community service. Congratulations to the Granby Public School’s athletic community. This award speaks volumes about our students and their level of commitment to their sports as well as how they conduct themselves in the classroom and in the community.

Superintendent’s Report

Superintendent Cheri Burke said the search for an assistant principal at the middle school is well underway. More than 60 people have applied to date.

Community Communication Plan Focus Groups are underway.

Student Representative’s Report

Chase said that high school seniors and their families participated in a senior post-grad planning meeting and learned about different options after high school.

Public Comment

Mike Kramarenko, Notch Road, said that sixth grade started off smoothly and he thanked the board and Ms. Burke for all they do.

Ali Zafar, no stated address, said he is looking forward to curriculum night at Wells Road tomorrow evening and echoed his gratitude toward Ms. Burke and the board. He shared communication has been very responsive and he is looking forward to attending the focus group discussion.

Annual Summative Testing Report

Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Parsons presented the summative test results for the 2022-23 academic year, and discussed the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBAC), Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and the SAT.
