Chamber Music Concert

The Simsbury Chamber Music Festival’s 2022 Season, Chamber Music Masterworks Series, will feature a concert with the Clara Piano Trio on Tuesday, June 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Eno Memorial Hall, 754 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury.

The Clara Piano Trio, with Katalin Viszmeg on violin, Susan Robison on cello and Tamila Azadaliyeva at the piano, will be joined by Emlyn Ngai, violin, Melinda Daetsch, viola, and Hartt Community Division chamber groups delivering wonderful chamber music.

The program will include String Quartet in E flat major by Fanny Mendelssohn and Piano Quintet in E flat major by Robert Schumann.

Hello gardeners and plant lovers

The Gardeners of Simsbury will not hold its annual plant sale at Boy Scout Hall this year but has arranged with Gresczyk Farms in New Hartford for you to purchase beautiful plants just before Mother’s Day.

On Thursday, May 5, Gresczyk Farms will graciously open its doors 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will be annuals, perennials, and beautiful hanging baskets. Twenty percent of your purchases on May 5 will be donated to the Gardeners of Simsbury.

The Gardeners of Simsbury is open to residents of surrounding communities, including Granby, East Granby and Hartland.

Please visit Gresczyk Farms at 860 Litchfield Turnpike (Rte 202) in New Hartford on May 5 to support the club.

Simsbury Garden Club

The Simsbury Garden Club plant sale will be held on Saturday, May 21, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Perennials and small shrubs will be available from members’ own gardens, as well as houseplants and hanging baskets, handmade floral wreaths, birdhouses and other decorative items. The sale will be held at the Simsbury Farms Ice Rink, 100 Old Farms Road in West Simsbury. Proceeds from the plant sale support the garden club’s scholarship fund.

Memory Walk and Fundraiser

On Sunday, May 15, Mary’s Place will host its 9th Annual Memory Walk at Northwest Park, 145 Lang Road in Windsor.

Mary’s Place is a Center for Grieving Children and Families. This moving fundraiser brings together families, friends and the community to support programs at Mary’s Place. Honor the memory of a loved one and help make a difference in the lives of grieving families by joining us for this special event, starting at 9:30 a.m. on May 15. Flying Colors Trunk Show

On Wednesday, May 18, Timna Tarr will present her Flying Colors Trunk Show at the monthly meeting of the Farmington Valley Quilters. She will talk about her design and color choices, as well as the personal stories behind her quilts. Tarr is a nationally known quilter, and quilt and fabric designer who is based in South Hadley, Mass. Although many in her family quilt, Tarr began quilting after studying art history in college.
