The Granby Conservation Commission has announced an extension to the Explore Granby open spaces scavenger hunt through October. This event, first conducted in 2020, is an effort by the commission to encourage Granby residents to explore the town’s beautiful trails and open spaces. The rules are simple —walk/hike to the target locations, take a selfie photo, and submit the photos to the commission along with the date of the visit and the names of Granby residents in attendance.
“Our first scavenger hunt, which opened just as the pandemic was beginning, was enjoyed by numerous Granby residents, including individuals, families, and youth groups,” said Commissioner Kent McCord. “We are hoping to increase participation this year and develop Explore Granby into an annual tradition.”
This year, five new sites have been identified on marked trails on Granby Land Trust properties, the Holcomb Farm Trail System, McLean Game Refuge and Connecticut state land. Details about the event, including target locations and how to participate, are available on the Conservation Commission website at granby-ct/gov/conservation-commission.com and the Granby Recreation and Leisure Services programs page at granbyrec.com Participants who reach all sites will be awarded a certificate and a small recognition.
