Whether you are a horse show veteran, a backyard horse owner, someone dreaming of owning your own horse or someone who just enjoys the sight of horses in your environment, Granby Horse Council (GHC) membership will benefit you in many ways.

By joining other members from East Granby, Suffield, Southwick, Simsbury, Barkhamsted, New Hartford, West Hartford, Canton, Avon, Granville and Blandford you become an integral part of the mission to educate horse owners and the public about our horse community.

• You help promote good will and safety as equestrians share the road with motorists and the trails with hikers.

• You help continue to maintain the riding rings at Holcomb Farm and Salmon Brook Park.

• You receive permission to ride through the private property of the Clark Farms Bushy Hill Orchard.

• You stay informed about trail riding permission and conditions at Holcomb Farm, Salmon Brook Park and McLean’s Game Refuge.

• You support the community through scholarships, parades, Open Farm Day, Share the Road Event and donations to the Ambulance Association, Fire Department and Angel Horses Rescue.

• You receive a monthly newsletter keeping you informed about upcoming events that include organized trail rides, desensitization sessions, the beach ride, bonfire, picnic, and holiday party. You can also advertise horse related items and services in the classified section for free.

You can find a membership form at granbyhorsecouncilct.com or contact Joan Davis at 860-653-6805 for more information.

Membership is not required to attend monthly meetings, which usually include an educational or entertaining program. The council meets on the third Wednesday of every month at the Holcomb Farm Workshop or various locations in the area. Check the website and Face Book, Granby (CT) Horse Council, for meeting locations and details.
