Native American women– their past and impact on our lives today–will be the focus of a talk that George G. Ducharme, Ph.D. will present to the Granby Women’s Breakfast Group on Wednesday, April 6, at 9 a.m. at the Granby Senior Center.
Indigenous women have held important leadership roles in tribes throughout written and oral history. A retired Manchester Community College professor, Ducharme is a member of the Missisquoi Abenaki Tribe. He will share stories of remarkable indigenous women, both past and present—from Sacagawea who helped the Lewis and Clark’s expedition, to Deb Haagland, Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior.
Ducharme also holds a master’s degree in Native American Studies from Dartmouth College.
