A warm thank you

We’ve hunkered down while Winter Storm Bobby breezed through, and we’ve gone from icy to muddy—but it seems like spring is not far off. It’s a perfect time for the Granby Community Fund to acknowledge with gratitude the wonderful generosity of our townspeople. For a small nonprofit community organization to carry out its mission of providing financial assistance to local agencies is remarkable. And, to be thriving after 60 years is extraordinary.

Long-time residents may recall that years back volunteers went door-to-door to solicit Community Fund donations. Times have changed dramatically and now we reach out to you with an annual mailing. Some of our agencies have changed through the years, but our mission remains the same: for example, meals are delivered to the homebound by McLean Meals-On-Wheels volunteers; the Red Cross holds critical-need blood drives in Granby and the Salvation Army is here to assist local families in their time of crisis; the Granby Senior Van is providing transportation for seniors to medical appointments and grocery shopping; the Waste Not Want Not Community Kitchen offers a meal and a generous supply of food items on a weekly basis; and come summer, the Friends of Holcomb Farm will supply fresh produce to supplement those in need through the Senior Center and Waste Not Want Not.

Our grants help make it possible for young people to enjoy an enriching experience with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, the YMCA, the Marquis Fife and Drum Corps, FAVARH and the Safe Grad Party. There’s so much more that we offer and could not provide without your generous response. On behalf of our agencies, we thank you!
