I thank the entire Granby community for supporting our schools so far this school year. We have had successful Curriculum Nights at each of the schools, athletic events with wonderful attendance, homecoming activities, drama production practices and many other activities to start the year. It’s clear there is much to be excited for this year in the Granby Public Schools.

At its meeting on Oct. 20, the Granby Board of Education adopted the Granby Public Schools, “Moving Forward Together” 2021-2025 Strategic Plan. The purpose of this plan is to share with the entire community what we want our school system to achieve in the next four years. The plan is grounded in the six major goal areas of the Board of Education: Student Learning and Achievement, Community Development, Safety and Social Emotional Well-Being, Budget Development and Fiscal Management, Embracing Diversity, and Professional Learning. You can find the “Moving Forward Together” 2021-2025 Strategic Plan on the main page of the district website.

The Granby Public Schools staff has been working this year with the Great Schools Partnership, a nonprofit professional organization out of Portland, Maine, to implement Elements of Effective Instruction into daily instructional practices. This framework focuses on creating a supportive learning environment with Clear and Shared Learning Outcomes at the heart of each lesson. Focusing on these clear outcomes, teachers can align their teaching methods, practice opportunities, and assessment to monitor progress of students towards these outcomes.

I invite you to check the Granby Public Schools’ website at for events that you and your family may like to attend. Some events that may be of interest to you are:

High School Drama Play, Radium Girls, 7 p.m., Nov. 5 and 6, and 2 p.m. Nov. 7, high school auditorium
