Lions Clubs International President Douglas X. Alexander recently appointed West Granby resident Dave Roberts as the Lions’ representative to the United Nations Council of Organizations. In this role, Roberts will represent over 1.4 million Lions at this United Nations’ organization.

The United Nations Council of Organizations was founded in 1947 by former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt; its purpose is to bring together major non-profit associations from across the United States to support the mission and purpose of the United Nations. Lions Clubs International was one of 43 charter members.

“I am so excited to be representing Lions from around the world at the United Nations,” said Roberts. “Eleanor Roosevelt’s dream was to involve ordinary Americans from across our nation from all walks of life to get involved in the critical work of the United Nations to promote world peace and mutual understanding. Her dream dovetails perfectly with Lions Clubs International motto of ‘we serve.’ I am so honored to hold this special Presidential Appointment from Lions President Alexander.”
