The Granby Women’s Breakfast Group presents a spring program entitled The Art of Flower Gardening, with local master gardener Barry Avery, on Tuesday, May 4, at 1:30 p.m., via Zoom.

Avery will talk about and answer questions related to spring care of flowers, offering hints and help for perennials, annuals, shrubs, starting with the basics so you get the most out of your efforts.

Avery is a lifetime gardener, U.S. Navy Nuclear Submarine Veteran, a UConn master gardener and is a graduate of Humboldt University with a degree in biology. He is a 40-year resident of Granby. His gardening experience stretches from childhood days in Kansas with his two grandmothers to today.

Avery is in the second year of starting a Pollinator Garden at Holcomb Farm and is one of three who had the idea to start an Arboretum at Holcomb Farm. It is now officially the Holcomb Farm Tree Trail and there are many more folks now involved in this project.
