The Granby Public Library is featuring the Granby Camera Club’s twentieth annual photo exhibit from June 1 – June 27.

The club was formed to pursue photography as an art form and welcomes everyone who shares a passion to learn, create, and enjoy the beauty of photography. In the last 25 years, there have been significant changes in the world of photography – digital cameras and sophisticated computer programs have enhanced the visual results and have opened the photographic world to many more people.

Due to the pandemic in 2020-21, the exhibit last year was cancelled and meetings normally held in the Granby Senior Center were held via Zoom. It is hoped that the meetings will resume in September 2021 through May 2022 on the first Monday of each month at the Senior Center. Each features a program that relates to either photographic skills, techniques and printing or other photographic presentations.

A special feature at each meeting are the results of the scavenger hunt in which members present photos taken since the last meeting that best represent two specific designated words as well as their favorite photo. Club members then determine the winner in each category. These photos are featured in the Community Room of the Senior Center until the next meeting.

Club members have had photos selected for the annual Simsbury Bank calendar and have been participants in many other exhibits or competitions. There are, however, photographers with every level of ability as members.
