In support of the Granby Land Trust and McLean Game Refuge, a First Congregational Church crew celebrated Earth Day on April 24 by collecting a dozen trash bags of roadside litter in just one hour. Eight bagsful of litter were extracted from the edge of GLT’s Mary Edwards Mountain Property field bordering Mountain Road. Four more bags full of debris were picked up on a one-half mile stretch of McLean Game Refuge property on Barn Door Hills Road starting across from the refuge’s entrance and running south to the hill leading to Hillyer Way. Imagine what could be accomplished by organizing a collaborative town-wide roadside clean-up effort next year. That’s what First Church is thinking!
