Granby residents looking to buy a car, sell a car or have service performed on their cars without having to leave town, can visit Cahill’s Motorcars. The dealership, conveniently located at 360 Salmon Brook Street, is a family business owned and operated by Patrick and Ann Cahill.
Cahill’s Motorcars offers a variety of services including diagnosis and repair of domestic and foreign automobiles, the sale of used cars and the purchase of vehicles people want to sell. Cahill’s services also include evaluations and safety inspections on cars people are contemplating purchasing from other sources. In addition to these services, Patrick can work with customers to locate a car by using their specifications at dealer auctions.
Patrick grew up in the automobile business. His father, Bill Cahill, owned a Lincoln-Mercury dealership and he spent most of his free time, after school and weekends, at the dealership. Bill sold the dealership in 1983 and retired, but soon realized he missed it. Bill and Patrick started Cahill’s Motorcars in 1983 and worked as a team until Bill passed away in 1999. At that point, Ann stepped in to help and they have been a team ever since. Although the business started out in Windsor Locks, it has moved twice. When the current location became available in 1993, the Cahills jumped at the chance to be in Granby.
“Granby is a great town—filled with wonderful people,” Ann said. “It is just the right size and we love being able to develop long-term relationships with our customers.”
COVID-19 has affected business, but because of the strong relationships between the Cahills and their customers, they are meeting the challenge. They strive to provide a safe and clean environment for their customers and have made modifications to their service to make sure everyone feels comfortable.
The Cahills goal is to provide personalized service. They believe in putting the customer’s best interest first and that drives their philosophy: “Where Great Service and Great Savings Go Together.” Pat, Ann and their mechanic, Chip, are happy to answer any automotive questions.
