Salmon Brook Veterinary Hospital will be holding its 8th annual pet food drive on Saturday, Dec. 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. We will be collecting dog and cat food as well as monetary donations. Food donations will go directly to local food pantries, shelters and rescues. This year, monetary donations will be sent to Vet Dogs, an organization that trains service dogs for military veterans and first responders (vetdogs.org).

For safety reasons some changes have been made—Salmon Brook Vet Hospital will only collect food donations from Dec. 7 to Dec. 12. There will be storage containers at the front of the building labeled for pet food donation drop offs. On the day of the food drive, Dec. 12, there will be a tent set up with a table for pet food drop off and staff to assist you.

There will also be pet food collection bins at Horses & Hounds, 15 Mill Pond Road in Granby, and Granby Stop & Shop. We give a huge thank you to both Horses & Hounds and Granby Stop & Shop for their continued support of the pet food drive, year after year.

As in past years, Salmon Brook Veterinary Hospital will match the food donations up to 3,000 pounds.  At the request of the food pantries and shelters, preferred donations of dog and cat food are bags of kibble 30 pounds or under and canned food.

With many people out of work due to COVID, people and pets are in need more than ever. Further information will follow on our Facebook page. Come support your neighbors and the pets they love, and thank you for your continued support.
