Austin Trunick’s The Cannon Film Guide Volume I, explores the legendary b-movie studio, Cannon Films, during the years 1980–1984.

The Cannon Group produced more than 200 films, emphasizing quantity over quality and included many beloved (and notorious) b-movies, making stars of Chuck Norris and Michael Dudikoff, and kept Charles Bronson working into the twilight of his career. While it is rare to find a traditionally good film bearing the company’s logo, it’s even harder to find one that isn’t immensely entertaining.

Volume I of the planned trilogy explores 40 films and franchises produced by the Cannon Group. Through in-depth critical studies and interviews with people involved in the making of these films, the book tells the stories behind movies across all genres—action and adventure, musicals and comedy, horror and thrillers, drama and romance. Trunick’s book was published in late June, and by July had earned the top new release spot in the movie reference category on Amazon. The author is available to discuss the new book, the history of Cannon, or individual Cannon films; contact him at CannonFilmGuide@gmail.com

Trunick and his family moved to Granby from New York City in 2018, and enjoyed learning about their new community through reading the Drummer in the months leading up to the move.
