I would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire community for welcoming me with open arms to this incredible town. I truly feel fortunate and proud to serve as your Superintendent of Schools. From my first day riding the bus with students, to presenting the Plus One Budget to the Board of Education, each moment positively reflects the Granby culture. Attending a variety of meetings, sporting events, concerts, and student recognition ceremonies provide daily insight and opportunities to pause and celebrate successes. The district’s commitment to educating our students is extraordinary and something for which to be proud.

Our schools in Granby are a true treasure that represent one of the best school systems in the state of Connecticut. We are fortunate to have a remarkable Board of Education that makes decisions in the best interest of children. I am honored to work with such committed individuals. In a short period of time, I have learned that the staff of the Granby Public Schools works tirelessly with students to achieve their highest potential in both academics and social and emotional development.

Students in Granby are excelling in all areas. I am impressed with how welcoming students are across the district. Our students in the Granby Public Schools are the heart and soul of the school system. Each day, from our youngest learners to our graduating seniors, students engage in amazing learning experiences at Kelly Lane Primary School, Wells Road Intermediate School, Granby Memorial Middle School, and Granby Memorial High School. I invite you to look on our Granby Public Schools’ website at granby.k12.ct.us for events that you and your family may like to attend. Some events that may be of interest to you are listed below:

Feb. 4: 8th Grade Parents’ Night, 6:30 p.m., HS Auditorium

Feb. 5: Board of Education Meeting, 7 p.m., Town Hall Meeting Room

Feb. 6: Grade 3 and 4 Chorus/Grade 4 Band Concerts, 7 p.m., High School Auditorium

Feb. 13: Kindergarten Registration, 4-7 p.m. Kelly Lane Cafetorium

Feb. 22: Winter Coffeehouse, 7 p.m., High School Commons

As stated earlier, on Jan. 2,  my first day as your Superintendent of Schools, I presented the Plus One Budget for 2020-2021 to the Granby Board of Education. Each year the Granby Board of Education develops and submits budget projections to the Board of Finance for use in the budget guideline. At that time, the projected request was 3.69 percent over current operating costs. On March 4, at 7 p.m., the Superintendent’s Budget will be presented to the Granby Board of Education in the Town Hall Meeting Room.

A Superintendent-Community Conversation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 19, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at central services’ office at 15-B North Granby Road. This is a time where the community and parents can ask questions about the district. Future dates will be posted on the District Calendar.

Thank you again for such a warm welcome to Granby. If you ever have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at 860-844-5260. Also, please follow me on Twitter @GranbySuper.
