The First Congregational Church of Granby invites you to a community-wide meal packaging event with the non-profit organization, Rise Against Hunger. The job in Granby is to raise the funds to cover the costs of meal ingredients and provide the volunteer labor needed to package the ingredients for 10,000 meals. Rise Against Hunger will provide the rest.

We invite you to help us package the meal ingredients that will be sent throughout the world. All ages are welcome to participate. The meal packaging event will be held on Sunday, April 26, at the First Congregational Church in Cook Hall, from 2 to 4 p.m. To register for the event, or to contribute, please visit events.riseagainsthunger.org/FCCG2020

Rise Against Hunger is driven by the vision of a world without hunger. Its mission is to end hunger in our lifetime by providing food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable and creating a global commitment to mobilize the necessary resources.

After enlisting as a U.S. Marine during the Vietnam War, founder Ray Buchanan quickly recognized that accomplishing a mission required “commitment to something larger than yourself.” Buchanan, a United Methodist minister, envisioned a world without hunger.

Driving Rise Against Hunger’s work is the recognition that ending hunger is more than just feeding people; Rise Against Hunger focuses its feeding programs in areas that can have a real impact and expands its hunger-fighting programs beyond meal packaging and distribution. The April Granby Drummer will have another article with more details.
