Hayden Mueller, 2019 GGT winner

Hayden Mueller, last year’s GGT winner, has continued to impress audiences with her vocal talent. Mueller, a sophomore at GMHS, fulfilled a dream she’s had since a little girl—to audition for American Idol. Mueller traveled to Pittsburgh last summer where she witnessed the behind-the-scenes process of the American Idol auditions. “Waiting felt like forever but I met so many amazing and talented artists and it really was so much fun,” said Mueller. Mueller’s rendition of Bob Dylan’s “To Make you Feel my Love” earned her a callback for a second round of auditions in Chicago. Although Mueller did not make it to the next round of auditions, the producers gave her great feedback and encouraged her to come back to audition again. Mueller said, “Even though I didn’t make it to Hollywood week, they will see me again and I will keep working to fulfill my dreams.”

Mueller’s talents have been on display closer to home in several local performances since GGT last spring: GMHS’ Fall production of James and the Giant Peach, Good Company Theater’s Fall production of God Spell and this spring’s GMHS’ production of Mamma Mia. She is a member of the GMHS Chamber Singers and was selected for the Connecticut Music Educators Northern Regional Select Choir for the fifth year in a row.

The GMHS Athletic Booster Club is a group of parent and student volunteers dedicated to supporting and enhancing the high school athletic community.
