Do you have the courage to brave the Zombie Trail? If you do, your team will be tasked with making it through approximately three miles of woodland and meadow on Zombie-infested trails to four different checkpoints. Get through the checkpoints and to the finish line without being tagged three times by a zombie and win! If you lose all three lifelines (i.e. get tagged 3 times), finish the trail anyway as the soon-to-be-walking dead! The event is scheduled for Oct. 25 at Holcomb Farm. Everyone who finishes gets a cool t-shirt featuring original zombie art designed by Free Lunch Studios. Teams of four may register for $80, individual runners can register for $25 each. All proceeds will support positive youth development programming at the Town of Granby Youth Service Bureau. Registration will be through the Granby Parks and Recreation web site beginning June 1, and closing Sept. 30. The number of teams will be limited to keep the event to a manageable size, so get your friends together and register early.

Participants don’t need to be runners, this is not a timed race—rather this is a survive-the-course event. Of course, some running will be needed to escape the hordes of brain-starved zombies, but there will be infestation free zones to walk, rest, or run depending on your fitness level and motivation.

Not up trail running? Maybe you are Zombie material. Zombies can register to spend three hours on the trails the day of the race for just $15. Zombies will receive a cool t-shirt and the thrill of scaring family and friends silly when they try to get through the trail. Zombies will need to report for a brief training session the Saturday before the race.

Race sponsors can be listed on the t-shirts just by providing a few folks from your team, business or organization to help with set up the Friday and/or Saturday before the event, or by helping with clean up after the race finishes. If you are interested in being a sponsor, call me at 860-844-5355. This is a great way for local businesses, teams and organizations to help promote positive youth development in the Town,
