Trash Schedule

Independence Day is Saturday, July 4, therefore, the holiday will not affect trash pickup schedules.

Keep out

Please do not put any ashes in your barrel. A single ash in a pile that seems inert can remain “live” (still able to ignite) for 96 hours after the main fire is out.

Composters

 “Garden Gourmet” composters are still available at a subsidized price of $35 (tax included). Stop by the Public Works office (52 North Granby Road, next to the high school entrance) weekdays from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. to pick one up.

Extra Trash?

What do you do if you have extra trash that does not fit in your barrel? In these instances, town approved “extra trash” bags are available for purchase. The bags are $2 each. Paine’s will pick up ONLY these designated purple bags. Place the purple bags next to your trash barrel on your regular trash day. It is not necessary to call Public Works for authorization.

The “extra trash” bags are available at Granby Public Works, 52 North Granby Road from 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday or from the Transfer Station attendant during Transfer Station hours

Paint Recycling

We are approaching the second anniversary of the paint recycling program.  To date, we have recycled almost 17 tons of paint through the Granby Transfer Station. Residents may bring paints (both latex and oil based), stains, sealers, shellacs, etc. to the Transfer Station free of charge. A complete list of products included in the program can be found on the Public Works page of the town’s website (www.granby-ct.gov). Please note that all containers must have their original labels and no rust!  Paint cans with wet paint should never be placed in your trash barrel.
