Peter Pan takes flight at GMHS

By Jennifer Moreau

What does it take to fly six kids through the air into Neverland? Apparently, six strong volunteers, some equipment and fairy dust. Good Co. Theater and Granby Memorial High School Drama have paired up as an unstoppable duo to produce Peter Pan. At first it was just a dream to be able to fly the kids. Space was limited at the regular venue where GCT resides and GMHS Drama needed a music director; in the end it was a perfect match to combine the two groups. After careful planning between Nikki Currie Huggard, director and Bryan Moreau, board member of GCT and flight producer, they contacted ZFX, a theatrical effects company. That was the beginning of a long process to procure funds and technical expertise to realize the dream. GEF graciously provided a partial grant on behalf of Good Co. Theater for the flying portion and “we couldn’t be more thrilled,” states the GCT Board. This allows the community to experience an amazing artistic piece of work, while providing a lasting impression on those children from the community involved in the production.

The “flight team” trained for a few intense weeks to ensure the production takes flight. It is definitely an event you don’t want to miss. Tickets on sale now at goodcompanytheaterct.org for general admission,  $15 adult, $12 students and children; Patron Seating (front and center) for $25. Tickets are also on sale at Granby Pharmacy and tickets will be available at the door (same price as general seating). Peter Pan will be presented at GMHS auditorium on March 6 at 7:30 p.m., March 7 at 3 and 7:30 p.m., and March 8 at 3 p.m.
