Join this support group and take the first step, Tuesday, March 7, 6:30- 7:30 p.m. at Meadowbrook of Granby, 350 Salmon Brook St. Facilitated by Nicole Matson, MeadowBrook of Granby’s director of therapeutic recreation and a dementia specialist, the group will continue meeting the first Tuesday of each month. After several months winter break, the Granby Civic Club will meet on Thursday, March 16, at 1 p.m. at the Granby Senior Center. Come and hear about Sweet Pea Cheese, a family-owned operation, part of the House of Hayes farm, a seventh generation dairy farm located in North Granby. Many changes of taken place especially in recent years by the family members currently operating the farm. All women of Granby and surrounding communities are welcome. Refreshments will be served. Granby 4-H will hold its annual pancake breakfast Saturday, March 25, from 7:30-10:30 a.m. at South Congregational Church, 242 Salmon Brook St. Plain, blueberry and chocolate chip pancakes, ham, sausage, fruit, and juice will be served. The profits support educational programs and community service projects for Granby 4-H. Prices are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and children 3-12, and under 3 is free. Bring your products, collections, art, crafts, antiques, books, CDs, toys, tack, tools, etc. Snacks and beverages will be available. A 10×10-foot space is only $20 ($25 after March 25) and a 20×15-foot space is $30 ($35 after March 25). This is a fundraiser for the Granby Horse Council. A concert to benefit the ALS Association of Connecticut in memory of Kymberly Heller Cotton will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, at Infinity Music Hall, 32 Front St., Hartford. Tickets are available on eventbrite.com
Fox61’s Chief Meteorologist Joe Furey will introduce special guest and Granby native Tammy Tanner with two fantastic classic rock bands who will perform favorite hits from the 60s through the 90s in memory of Kymberly. “Optic Nerve” featuring Dan Jeannotte on guitar, Ron Webster on bass and John Heller on drums will get the party started with headline band “That 70’s Band” featuring Henry Bocanegra on vocals, Bob Gaspar on percussion, Fred Krug on guitar, Tony Susi on keyboard and guitar, Tim Wilken on bass and Travis Lamothe on drums capping off the evening. Come enjoy a fantastic evening of classic rock and help to eradicate this terrible disease. All net proceeds go directly to the ALS Association of Connecticut.
Special VIP Mezzanine tickets include an hors d’oeuvres reception with Joe Furey an hour before showtime, and dine and watch the show from the mezzanine. Cash bar available for both orchestra and mezzanine seating.
