Program/Trip Registration: All programs and trips are based on a first come basis and space availability and require advance registration; payment must accompany registration. Please register early to avoid disappointment.
Scholarships: Residents will not be denied access because of lack of financial resources; program scholarship information is available upon request. All inquiries are kept in the strictest confidence; apply early.
Have your next family or other private event at SBP or Holcomb Farm. The Salmon Brook Park House is a beautiful facility accommodating up to 99 people. The multi-purpose room features a gas fireplace and central air. Make an appointment today for a tour and to see if it is the right fit for your next event. After School Ski Program
Registration is underway. There is limited space in this program. When registering online you will be prompted to print out and complete Ski Sundown’s waiver form. This form will need to be returned to the Rec Dept. within two weeks of your online registration date in order for your registration to be fully confirmed. Failure to return the signed waiver form to the Rec Office will result in your child’s spot in the program being forfeited and fee refunded. Registration ends by Nov. 9 or when all available spots are taken, whichever comes first.
Ski/Snowboard lessons are optional. If you do not purchase lessons your child does not receive any instruction from Ski Sundown staff or our parent chaperones.
Important: Kelly Lane and Wells Road students will be picked up at their school; children should bring their equipment in the morning. Pick them up at 8:30 p.m. We will be staying until 8 p.m. (Kelly and Wells) and until 7:30 p.m. (GMMS and GMHS).

Granby Youth Basketball League
Now is the time to register for the Winter Youth Basketball Program. This program is open to girls and boys in grades K–8. Leagues consist of co-ed grade K; co-ed grade 1; co-ed grades 2 (will split if possible), boys grades 3–4, 5–6, 7–8; girls grades 3­–4, 5–6, 7–8. Games are on Saturdays; practices for grades 2–8 are during the week. Grades 2–8 begins Dec. 7, Grades K–1 begins Jan. 9. Games or practices that are canceled due to “no school days”, weather conditions and/or last minute school scheduling conflicts maybe rescheduled dependent on coach and facility availability. Non-coaching parents will be asked to help monitor the facilities during week-night practices. Get more information and register online at www.Granbyrec.com.
Program runs from Jan 9 to March 5, the cost is $90/player. Register by Friday, Nov. 13 to avoid a $25 late fee.

Youth Enrichment
Music Time with Miss Carrie, ages 6 months to 4 years: Thursdays, Oct. 29 to Dec. 17, 10–11 a.m. Children with caregivers will enjoy learning basic melody, finger play, rhythm skills, dancing and music and movement in this entertaining atmosphere. Join Carrie Johnson and start your toddler’s day with singing, dancing, laughter and especially fun. $125pp.

After School Art Programs with Let’s Gogh Art
Kearns School, Where the Wild Things Art, grades K–2: Art adventurers explore many whimsical and original art forms and techniques, discovering clay and collage, painting and drawing, mask-making and decorating, just to name a few. Sculpt colorful monsters and clay pots, design ceramic robots and awesome airplanes, decorate birdhouses and wooden guitars, create fireworks t-shirts, and so much more. Hear wonderful stories such as Where the Wild Things Are or Nova the Robot that go hand-in-hand with each project. Humor and surprises are always included. Explore, experiment, create. Art adventurers bring home awesome works of art each week. Fridays, Nov. 13 to Jan. 15, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Supervision is provided from 3:10-3:30, bring a nut-free snack. $95pp.

Wells Road School, Are We There Yet? World Treasures Art-ventures, grades 3–6: In this multi‐cultural art exploration program, young art travelers discover amazing art secrets hidden all across the globe. Borrowing from Native American art traditions, craft colorful Shrinky Dink sun catchers and sculpt All About Me clay totem poles. Create people pots with feet and funny faces, inspired by ancient pottery found everywhere from Congo to Peru and beyond. Design intricate, eye‐catching Mehndi art gloves in India and bold repujado (metal embossing) masterpieces in Mexico. Make Aboriginal clay masks, and try a special kind of Italian scratch art, called sgraffito. Art‐venturers experience a multitude of materials and techniques, and bring home two‐ and three‐dimensional masterpieces each week as souvenirs from their travels. Fun facts about each country and culture are included. The only thing kids need to pack is their imaginations. Children from other schools are invited but transportation is not provided. (An after school art program at Kelly Lane will begin in late January.) Wednesdays, Sept. 30 to Nov. 18, 3:15–4:15 p.m. $125pp.
American Red Cross Programs

Babysitting Course, ages 11–15: This class provides information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children in the absence of parent and adult guardians. Training will help participants develop skills in leadership and professionalism; basic care; safety and safe play; and first aid. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Salmon Brook Park, $100pp.

When I’m in Charge, ages 8 and up: This is for boys and girls who are ever home alone. The course will cover safety concerns such as arriving home, responsibilities, phone and Internet safety, fire and gun safety and many others. Book included in the price of the class and a certificate will be issued upon completion. Parents are welcome to attend. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., at Holcomb Farm Workshop. $70pp

Halloween Cookie Decorating Class, ages 6 and up: Learn how to decorate adorable Halloween-themed cookies with your friends. Think pumpkins, bats, spiders and spider webs, cats, witch’s hats, tombstones, and more. Includes decorating instruction, cookies, icing, and decorating candies/sprinkles. All participants will take home their drying cookies in a bakery box. Friday, Oct. 30, 4:30 – 6 p.m. at Salmon Brook Park. $27pp.

Adult Activities

Holiday Cards, ages 14 and up: What can be more fun than spending quality time crafting with friends while creating beautiful, hand-made Christmas/Holiday cards? The best part of all is that you will have your cards done before the holidays. Join us each month to make 10 cards, new design each month. Sundays, Oct. 25 and Nov. 15, 1 – 3 p.m. $35pp per session.

Yoga For All: Join us for a mixed level yoga class to stretch, strengthen and restore. Led by Mary Ellen Mullins, class begins with a gentle warm-up, builds to an invigorating flow and ends with deep stretch and peaceful relaxation. Perfect to help gain flexibility, balance, and strength, and it will be a great way to start the day. Tuesdays, Oct. 6 to Nov. 17 (no Nov. 3), 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. at Holcomb Farm Workshop, $65pp.

Trips
NYC—On Your Own: These days in the city are on your own to enjoy the Big Apple. See Chinatown, Little Italy, Central Park, a museum, the zoo, a Broadway show or shop. The usual drop off points in the City are The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Plaza Hotel and Rockefeller Center. Pickup time is 7 p.m. in front of Stage Deli, Broadway and 53rd Street. Saturdays, Oct. 3 and Dec. 5. $40pp.

UConn Women’s Basketball vs. Maryland: Monday, Dec. 28, travel to New York City to cheer on defending national champion UConn Huskies as they take on the nationally ranked Maryland Terrapins in the Maggie Dixon Classic at Madison Square Garden. Tickets are also good for the first game of the Maggie Dixon Classic. Leave the Granby Town Hall Parking lot at 1 p.m. arriving in NYC about 3:30 p.m. Choose to sightsee, shop, dine, or watch the first basketball game; the UConn game begins at 8:30 p.m. Not all information was available at time of printing so please check web site for updates.
