Ten local artists who form the Painting Study Group, will be exhibiting oil, watercolor, acrylic and pastel paintings from Feb. 1 through 28 in the library’s main reading room during regular library hours. Members include Carole Day, Dorothy Dumond, Carole Hartwell, Pam Jones, Suzanne Roz Magoon, Sally Sargent Markey, Rosemarie Mendes, Frances Miller, Marian Rowles and John Walker.
The Painting Study Group was formed in 2011 by a group of like-minded painters. The group meets regularly at members’ studios to discuss their work, support one another, share ideas and opportunities, and do critiques and challenges. Seasonally, members paint together “en plein air” at various outdoor locations around Granby.
Most of the artwork will be available for sale by contacting the artist directly. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Granby Library’s Gift Fund.
The public is invited to an opening reception on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a snow date of Feb. 10.
On Friday, Feb. 16, from 11 a.m. to noon, artists Dorothy Dumond and Carole Hartwell will host Tools of the Trade, A Conversation about Art Materials at the library. The snow date is Feb. 23. Registration is recommended. For more information, please contact the library at 860-844-5275.
