4H Fair4-H Fair to be held in Somers

The 79th Annual Hartford County 4-H Fair will be held Aug. 14-16, at the 4-Town Fair Grounds on Egypt Road in Somers. The fair is run by the Hartford County 4-H Fair Association. This year the following Granby residents are serving as officers in the Fair Association: Albert Gilbert, president; Matt Hawthorn and Conor Smith, vice presidents; and Brandon Higley-Blair, secretary.

The fair will feature 4-H livestock exhibits and shows, non-animal exhibits and demonstrations, a 4-H dog show, doodlebug and horse draws, live bands, children’s entertainment, a craft show, an antique tractor pull, food, and more.   Additionally, the 4-H clubs around Hartford County, including Granby, will be exhibiting in various project areas.

This year’s fair entertainment features Katie Perkins on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Courtney Drummey on Saturday at 5 p.m. The craft show and antique tractor pull start at 9 a.m. on Saturday and last all day.  The Austin Harlow Memorial 5K road race takes place on Sunday, with registration from 7:30- 8:45 a.m. and the race starting at 9 a.m. The race will begin and end at the fairgrounds and all proceeds benefit Hartford County 4-H Fair. Runners can also register for the race at www.hartfordcounty4hfair.org.

Admission pricing is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and children 7-12, free for children 6 and under.  On Friday, admission is free for all retired and active military personnel (with ID). Parking is free. All proceeds go directly to the Hartford County 4-H Fair Association to cover youth programs and fair operation expenses.
