A Beautiful Day in June

In the park the roses bloom with their colors of red, pink, yellow, white, and lavender. I stop to take in their sweet fragrance. Nearby in the gardens, marigolds, zinnias, petunias, begonias, and other summer flowers add their colors of orange, red, yellow, and purple to the scene.

The grass and the leaves on the trees add their complimentary colors of green to the landscape. Hanging baskets of impatiens on shepherd hooks grow close by in the shade. Even planters on the busy city streets are filled with flowers.

I pause to think of those who will only see this outdoor beauty through a hospital window today, and I say a prayer for their healing and peace.

So, if we are privileged to spend this warm June day outdoors with sun shining and birds sweetly singing, let us realize we have been given a precious gift…
