Marquis of Granby wants to thank everyone who contributed to its fundraiser held at the Thomas Hooker Brewery on March 9. The event was a huge success, with 100 percent of proceeds going to help members of the corps get to Scotland this August.

The upcoming trip is filled with exciting opportunities for these young musicians, including marching down the Royal Mile as they perform in the Edinburgh international music festival, touring the cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow, exploring the Scottish Highlands and attending the world famous military tattoo in Edinburgh.

None of this would be possible without the outstanding support the Marquis continues to receive from the community. Local businesses, artists and individuals generously donated multiple gift certificates and a variety of exciting items for the raffle and silent auction that took place during this sold-out fundraising event.

Almost three hundred people were in attendance, including 25 members from the St. Peter’s Drum Corps out of Torrington. Whether it was the love of music, history, or fine local beer that brought folks to the event, everyone was excited to support the Marquis and its mission to promote the ancient fyfe and drum tradition. The entire corps thanks everyone involved.

Come hear the music and see the pageantry the Marquis brings at one of the local Memorial Day parades coming up. Check out the corps’ schedule at marquisofgranby.org/events.
