DECA State Competition Update

This year’s DECA State Competition was a whirlwind of a showing from the GMHS DECA team. Our school brought 31 members of our chapter to States, which is the highest attendance in our chapter’s history, and had 10 people get onto the stage during the final ceremony. Anyone who is the in the top six people in their event get on stage, so we had ten people in the top six of their respective events. We also had six people place in their event, which them all for the International Competition in Atlanta, Georgia in April.

The following people got on stage: Tess Meyers for Food Marketing Series, Mike Quinn-Mavredakis for Business Finance Series, Katelyn Erickson for Business Finance Series, and David Migliaccio for Automotive Services Marketing.

The following people finished in the top 3 and qualified for Internationals: Jillian Thrall for Advertising Campaign for Thrall Family Farms (2nd place), Joseph Wix for Principles of Finance (3rd place), Jenna Dauria and Marile Marzo for Buying and Merchandising Team Decision Making (2nd Place), Dylan Dingivan for Financial Consulting (2nd Place), and Jacob McDonald for Business Services Marketing (3rd Place).
