The Marquis (mar-kwis) of Granby has been on the road and busy this summer. The corps participated in several events including the Deep River Muster (the nation’s largest fife and drum muster), Nathan Hale Muster, the National Muster held in Patterson, NY, and closing the summer with the Westbrook Muster.

As is tradition, the corps took its summer camping trip, sightseeing through New York’s Hudson Valley. Stops included were a guided tour of West Point, cooling off at a local water park, checking out the beautiful vistas atop Bear Mountain, and Hyde Park. The trip concluded with music and performances at the National Fife and Drum Muster in Patterson, N.Y.
You can find the corps continuing its busy schedule, playing ancient military music into the fall. You’ll find the Marquis at the Windsor Muster, Sept. 9, Big E, Sept. 17, as well as Celebrate Granby, Sept. 23.
We also want to get word out that Wayback Burgers in Granby is helping the Marquis raise money by hosting a fundraiser on Sept. 26. Fundraising dollars will go towards this youth 501c3 organization supporting the corps and its members.
The corps continues its Wednesday evening practices at 6:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, Route 189 in Granby. Stop by on a Wednesday to listen and watch the corps.
The Marquis of Granby would like to thank the Granby Community Fund for its continued support.
