Valley Brook Community Church held its first Clothes Closet on Oct. 4. The Clothes Closet offers free clothing, shoes and accessories for men, women and children at no cost. The idea came about after Valley Brook member, Donna Crombez assisted with the Salvation Army Clothing drive at the church last year. Crombez said, “It was always on my mind and my heart to reach out and help others in our community. There are many people in Granby and other surrounding towns who cannot afford to buy clothing or who have suffered a major loss and are in desperate need.” After researching other clothing ministries, Crombez decided to move forward and offer the event four times a the year.

The Clothes Closet accepts clean clothes that are new or gently used, along with shoes and accessories for all seasons and ages. It will also accept baby and infant items such as diapers, wipes and car seats purchased within the past five years, as well as clean linens and hangers. Items can be dropped off at Valley Brook Community Church at 160 Granville Road, North Granby on Sunday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon or you can email clothescloset@valleybrook.cc to arrange a drop off time.
The next Clothes Closet will take place on Saturday, Dec. 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
