Local artist Bill Simpson has been invited to teach a class in oil painting at the Windsor Art Center Studios on Central Street in Windsor. The small group (maximum seven students) will meet Thursdays, Oct. 20 through Nov. 17. Simpson will help painters refine their composition, color and drawing to better focus their work, but he also will stress how to relax and have fun while painting, thus opening the way to more intuitive work. For more information about the class and to register, call the Studios at 860-508-3196 or visit windsorartcenter.org.
Simpson will also participate in Open Studio Hartford, which takes place the weekend of Nov. 12 and 13 at the Windsor Art Center, 40 Mechanic Street in Windsor. The show hours are Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will feature his latest works in oils and charcoals.
