A new automotive repair shop—Evans Automotive—held its open house in early August. Partners Steve Couchon and Dean Evans bring different areas of expertise to the business. Evans is the ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certified mechanic, specializing in Hondas and Acuras, having worked at Acura Avon in Canton for 23 years. Couchon brings his management, marketing and finance background to the new business, having owned a very successful house painting company for many years.
There are already several other automotive repair shops in Granby, so what will make Evans Automotive a viable addition? Couchon and Evans noted the shop’s great location on busy Rte. 10/202, the large parking area, and the spacious waiting room, which they have decorated with comfortable furniture, magazines and a coffee machine. The garage also has computerized diagnostics to help determine particular problems.
Another plus for the time being is that customers can drop in and have simple procedures done while they wait. While the owners were being interviewed, a woman drove in, wondering if she could possibly get an oil change right then. In a couple of minutes, her car was on the lift. Once business picks up, appointments will probably be necessary, but for now, you can get an oil change, tire rotation or air conditioning recharge, for example, on a drop-in basis.
While Evans handled the oil change, Couchon noted that he feels competition is good, that it makes everybody better. He looks forward to working in partnership with the other repair shops.
