Both libraries will close early, at 4 p.m., on Dec. 23 and Dec. 31. Both libraries will be closed on Dec. 24, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

Special Holiday Program
The Friends of Cossitt and the Friends of Granby Public Library are co-hosting a Holiday Chamber Music event at Lost Acres Vineyard on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2 – 3 p.m. Entwyned, an early music ensemble, will perform Renaissance and Baroque holiday works, evoking festive times for everyone. During the event, 10 percent of all sales at the Vineyard will be donated back to the two Friends groups. So stop by, have a glass of delicious wine and enjoy the ambience!

Cossitt Library
Adult Coloring Evening returns, and just in time to help you de-stress about the holidays. Join us on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 6 – 7:30 p.m. when we set up 200 colored markers and a myriad of coloring pages, as well as scrumptious snacks and delicious English teas! What could be more relaxing?  Advance registration is suggested to ensure enough supplies (and goodies) for all who attend.

Give the Gift of Reading. Pick a tag from the Gift Book Tree in Cossitt Library, Children’s Room (age and gender assigned) or from the Gift Tree in the Main Room for a senior resident of Granby. Purchase and gift wrap a book then return it to Cossitt no later than Thursday, Dec. 10. Your gift will be distributed by Granby Social Services.

Holiday Festival of Thrift: Week-long offering of crafty gift-making and wrapping programs. Wednesday, Dec, 2, 6:30 p.m.—Origami Gift Boxes; Thursday, Dec. 3, 11 a.m.—Mini-Granny Square Ornaments; Thursday, Dec. 3, 6:30 p.m.—Easy Peasy Dishcloths with Paula; Monday, Dec. 7, 6 – 7:30 p.m.—Embroidered Ornaments with the CT River Valley chapter of the Embroiders Guild of America; Thursday, Dec. 10, 6:30 p.m.—Bags and Tags for Gift-Wrapping with Paula. Advance registration is required to ensure supplies for everyone; light refreshments will be available at each session.

Book Clubs
Something About The Author will meet on Monday, Dec. 7, 1:30 p.m. to discuss author Sandra Brown. Copies of the author’s works are available to borrow beforehand.
Around the World Book Group will meet on Monday, Dec. 21, 6:30 p.m. to discuss All Our Names by Dinaw Mengestu (Uganda). Copies of the books will be available to borrow before the group meets.

Sci-Fi / Fantasy Book Group will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 7 p.m. to discuss Forever War by Joe Halderman. Copies of the books will be available to borrow beforehand.
Children’s Department
Watch for our new Children’s Circulation Desk, a splendid gift from Granby Library Association, coming in early December! Please note: the Children’s Room may be closed for a day as the old desk is dismantled and the new desk installed. Staff will accommodate your needs to the best of their ability.

Wee Ones, 0 to 18 months: Please call library for dates/times. Babies with a caregiver are invited to sing, rock, clap and bounce to nursery rhymes and board books. No registration required; drop-ins welcome.

Preschool Story Time, ages 3–5: Please call library for dates/times: Children with a caregiver share stories, songs, finger plays and a craft with Miss Joan. No registration required; drop-ins welcome.

Craft Week: Please call library for dates/times: Drop in any time during the week and create a craft project to take home. All ages welcome.
We Love Legos! For ages 3 and up: Please call library for dates/times: We have lots of Legos – just bring your imagination! Best for ages 3 and up. Drop in.
