Windy Hill Guitar Studio students made music all day long on Sept. 26 at the Granby Chamber of Commerce event Celebrate Granby in the Park.
During the day, children and adults stopped by to listen and learn about the lessons and classes offered by studio director, Laura Mazza-Dixon. Guitarists Nicholas DeFranzo, 12, of East Granby and Erin Keener, 15, of Granby, played pieces by Latin American composers Hector Ayala and Bartolomeo Calatayud and lute duets from Renaissance England.

Young children were invited to try out the smallest guitar in the studio. Adults inquired about folk guitar lessons and classes while the members of the Baroque Ensemble, including Nathan Woodruff, of Vernon, on recorder, Mattie Banzhaf, of Tariffville, on keyboard, and Laura Mazza-Dixon, viola da gamba, played a Partitain G by Georg Philip Telemann and Masquing Ayres from 17th century London.
Later in the day, Kerrie Stelly, an adult student from Granby, participated in a demonstration lesson in which she played two classical guitar solos and her own arrangement of Joni Mitchell’s song, Both Sides Now, first recorded by Judy Collins.
