CT DEEP Announces the 10th Anniversary of Great Park Pursuit Family Adventure

Registration is now open for the 2015 Great Park Pursuit – Connecticut State Parks Family Adventure at www.NoChildLeftInside.org. The Great Park Pursuit is a series of activities designed to introduce families to the outdoors, build the next generation of environmental stewards and showcase Connecticut’s State Parks and Forests this spring.

The 10th Anniversary Great Park Pursuit kicks-off with family Fishing Day on Saturday, May 9 at Gay City State Park, Hebron and will end June 20 at a location which will be announced as the game progresses. There will also be activities at a different state park on the five Saturdays in between. Families will learn the location of these activities by following clues at www.NoChildLeftInside.org

“This year we are celebrating the 10th anniversary of No Child Left Inside® (NCLI) program and its Great Park Pursuit. Over 25,000 people have participated in Great Park Pursuit events over the years and thousands more in other programs of NCLI since it was launched,” said Robert Klee, Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. “We are hoping newcomers join us this year and we will also be inviting back the families who have participated in the past and asking them to tell their stories on how NCLI impacted their lives.”

Commissioner Klee added, “Some of our families have been participating in GPP for all 10 years and to them GPP has become a multi-generational event that helped create life-long memories. Some children have grown up their entire lives with NCLI and others…have just begun their journey.”

All teams that participate in all seven events will receive a 2015 Connecticut State Park and Forest Season Pass. The pass provides free parking at all parks where a fee is charged. The contest is open to Connecticut families – which must include one person 18 or over and one person under the age of 18. To be eligible for the final prize, families must register by April 24, attend all weeks of the game, and check in at the registration at each location and provide documentation that they attended the self-guided events. See registration section at: www.NoChildLeftInside.org
