Scholarship for seniors pursuing helping careers

There still is time for Connecticut high school seniors considering a future in one of the “helping” professions to apply for college funding from the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association (CFDA). For the 15th consecutive year, the statewide association is accepting applications for its college Family Support Services Scholarship program. Eight $500 college scholarships will be presented, one to a student in each of the state’s eight counties.

The CFDA scholarship awards support graduating high school seniors who are pursuing careers in a profession that provides emotional or medical support for families. This includes fields such as counseling, social services, psychology, psychiatry, nursing, medicine, social work, gerontology, or funeral service.

The deadline for the CFDA’s Family Support Services Scholarship applications is Friday, April 10. For an application and the contest rules, visit the CFDA website at www.ctfda.org or call 860-721-0234 or 800-919-2332.
