Letter from John Kissel

Do you oppose border tolls?

“Border tolls would raise a substantial amount of money for this state.” That’s what the co-chair of the state legislature’s Transportation Committee said recently. So brace yourselves, Granby Drummer readers. The issue of building border tolls has returned at the State Capitol. If built, the tolls could cost between $3 and $7 per car. This could all happen by 2017.

I oppose border tolls. A hearing on the proposal could be held in Hartford in a matter of weeks. I will be sure to let you know when that hearing will be. Here’s where you come in.

If you have a free minute, email me or call me to describe how tolls on our border would impact you and your family. Contact me at John.A.Kissel@cga.ct.gov or at 860-240-0531.

I can then share your stories with my fellow legislators to let them know that their decision on border tolls will have real consequences on people in Granby, East Granby and throughout our region.

I look forward to hearing from you!

 Sen. John A. Kissel
