Granby artists display work for gift-giving

It’s now the seventh year at Holcomb Farm for the Granby Artists Association Holiday Gift Show and it’s truly a “buy local” destination. Nine of the Association’s talented members will have a wonderful array of distinctive items including paintings, prints, pottery, calligraphic art, jewelry, cartoons and note cards. Tracy Marlor’s note cards will have the same themes as her children’s book, Jack’s Journey to the Pond. Sally Markey’s illustrations in Tree With 100 Hands is based on the Granby Oak. Matt Ryan’s cartoon characters and many books will be for sale.

Mark Gottlieb’s blown glass ornaments and sparkling bowls are not to be missed. This year’s annual hand painted ornament by Laura Eden is of her signature birch motif. Lori Catlin Garcia has sophisticated jewelry in precious metal and is featuring handmade lamp work glass beads. Laura Eden, Carol Hartwell and Sally Markey will have affordable paintings, prints, and holiday ornaments. Debby Reelitz will have a newly designed holiday ornament celebrating bees, organic T-shirts and inspiring calligraphic art. Linda Yurasevecz and Tracy Marlor will have traditional and unusual pottery.

The show will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6 and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7. There is no admission charge.

Throughout both days there will be live music featuring Laura Mazza Dixon and her Windy Hill Guitar Ensemble, John Somerville on acoustic guitar and students from Granby schools.

Holcomb Farm is located at 113 Simsbury Road in West Granby. Visit www.granbyartists.org for directions, further details and the music schedule, or call Debby Reelitz at 860-413-9041.

This community event is a great opportunity to purchase unique and affordable art for holiday giving and a wonderful way to kindle your holiday spirit.
